From 3 to 6 September 2026, the city of Baden in Switzerland will once again become a meeting point for the international junior curling elite. The second edition of the EJCT Baden Tournament is set to bring together some of the most promising young curling talents from across Europe and beyond — and applications (Link) are now officially open for competitive junior teams wishing to secure a place in the field.
With limited spots available, ambitious teams are invited to apply early and showcase their achievements as they compete for selection in one of the most exciting junior curling events on the international calendar.
A Premier Stage for Junior Curling
The EJCT Baden is part of the European Junior Curling Tour (EJCT) and represents one of the highest levels of junior competition worldwide — second only to the Junior World Championships. The tournament offers young athletes a unique opportunity to compete internationally, gain valuable experience, and test themselves against some of the best junior teams in the sport.
Hosted at the Baregg Curling Hall in Baden, the event builds on the city’s reputation as a centre for international curling events and youth development. Following the success of the inaugural edition, the second tournament promises even more excitement, high-level competition, and unforgettable moments on the ice. It is the same Ice and facility, where 2 weeks earlier the top Elite kicks of the season at the Baden Masters.

Competitive Format and International Field
The EJCT Baden tournament will feature 10 girls’ teams and 10 boys’ teams, carefully selected to ensure a competitive international field. Team selection considers factors such as international experience and tournament results (U21), ensuring that only strong and ambitious teams take the ice.
The competition format guarantees excitement from the very first stone:
- Teams are divided into two groups, each playing four round-robin games
- The group winners advance directly to the semi-finals
- Teams ranked second and third compete in quarter-finals
- At least four games are guaranteed for each team
Matches are played under international curling rules over 8 ends, with a five-minute break after four ends and a maximum playing time of around 1 hour and 55 minutes.
More Than a Competition
The EJCT Baden is more than just a tournament — it is a vibrant, self-regulating learning environment where young athletes grow, compete, and thrive. The event is designed around one central idea: putting athletes first.
Athlete-Centric, Always
Every aspect of the tournament is built with young players in mind. From the carefully structured draws to the welcoming venue atmosphere, the event aims to create a space where athletes can focus on performance, development, and enjoyment of the game.
The venue offers excellent infrastructure, including training opportunities, a nearby fitness centre, and dedicated practice ice, allowing teams to combine competition with additional training sessions before or after the event.
At the same time, the event promotes the Spirit of Curling, one of the sport’s most cherished traditions. During the tournament, players nominate the fairest player, who receives a special Fair Play award — a recognition of sportsmanship chosen by the athletes themselves.
Competition, Community and Fun
While the competition is serious and the level of play extremely high, the EJCT Baden never loses sight of the most important part of sport: having fun.
The tournament is designed to be a memorable experience for everyone involved — players, coaches, parents, and fans. Highlights include:
- A players’ banquet on Friday evening for athletes and coaches
- Live streaming and TV coverage of selected matches
- Live results on CurlingZone and Rinkmaster
- A welcoming curling community atmosphere throughout the event
The goal is to create a dynamic and inclusive environment where everyone feels part of something special — whether competing on the ice or cheering from the stands.
The Stars of Tomorrow
Events like the EJCT Baden play a crucial role in the development of future curling champions. Many elite players began their international careers on the junior tour, gaining experience in tournaments exactly like this one.
Here, young athletes not only compete for victory and prize money but also build friendships, learn from international opponents, and develop the skills that may one day lead them to World Championships or even the Olympic Games.
