EJCT Baden Announces Prize Money and Fair Play Awards for Inaugural Event

The European Junior Curling Tour (EJCT) is set to welcome a brand-new highlight on its calendar: EJCT Baden. Taking place for the very first time in Baden, Switzerland, this event is already making waves – not only for the high-level competition it promises but also for the generous prize money on offer.

Thanks to the incredible support of our valued sponsors and the Curling Club Baden-Regio, EJCT Baden is proud to award a total of CHF 7,000 in prize moneyCHF 3,500 for the Boys’ competition and CHF 3,500 for the Girls’ competition. This commitment to rewarding excellence underscores our dedication to promoting junior curling, both in the Canton of Aargau and far beyond Swiss borders.

A Strong Start for a New Tradition

Launching a new international tournament is no small feat. But in Baden, we believe in doing things right from the very beginning. Our vision for EJCT Baden is not just to host another curling event, but to create an unforgettable experience for young athletes from across Europe.

By offering equal prize money for boys and girls, we are making a clear statement about our values: fairness, equality, and recognition of athletic achievement are at the heart of what we do. This equality is not just symbolic – it’s an investment in the future of curling, where opportunities for growth and recognition should be the same for every young athlete.

“Equal prize money is not just a statement – it’s a commitment to fairness and respect in our sport. We are proud that, right from the very first edition of EJCT Baden, we can offer the same recognition to both our boys’ and girls’ teams. This is how we believe curling should be – equal, inclusive, and inspiring.”

Michael Devaux, President of Organisation Comitee

A Partnership that Powers the Sport

This exciting prize pool would not be possible without our partners.

First and foremost, we thank Curling Club Baden-Regio, whose dedication to the sport in the Canton of Aargau has been nothing short of inspiring. Their work in nurturing talent, providing top-class facilities, and creating a welcoming environment for players of all levels has been a driving force in bringing the EJCT to Baden.

Their vision extends well beyond the local scene. By hosting an international junior event, they are helping raise the profile of curling, encouraging cultural exchange, and fostering friendships between athletes from different countries.

Our sponsors have also played a crucial role. Their financial commitment is more than just a donation – it is a statement of belief in the potential of young curlers and the power of sport to unite communities. Without their trust and enthusiasm, launching EJCT Baden at such a high standard would not have been possible.

Celebrating More Than Just Victories

While the CHF 3,500 prize for each winning teams will undoubtedly be a highlight for many, we believe that curling is about much more than money. That’s why we are introducing another special recognition: the Fair Play Awards.

At the end of the tournament, the fairest male player and the fairest female player will be honoured, based on player-to-player voting. This means that the athletes themselves will decide who among them best embodies the spirit of curling – respect, honesty, and sportsmanship on and off the ice.

In curling, the “Spirit of the Game” is more than just a phrase; it’s a living tradition. Our Fair Play Awards are a way to keep that tradition alive, celebrating those who compete fiercely but never forget the values that make curling unique.

Baden – A Perfect Stage for Junior Curling

With its rich history, charming old town, and vibrant cultural life, Baden offers the perfect backdrop for an event like this. Located in the heart of the Canton of Aargau, it is easily accessible for both Swiss and international teams, making it an ideal gathering place for top junior talent from across Europe.

Beyond the competition, visiting teams will have the opportunity to experience Swiss hospitality, explore the region, and build memories that will last far beyond the final stone of the tournament.

Looking Ahead – Building a Legacy

The first edition of EJCT Baden is just the beginning. Our goal is to establish Baden as a regular stop on the European Junior Curling Tour, attracting more teams each year and offering them not only excellent competition but also a warm and supportive environment in which to grow as athletes and as people.

We know that prize money and trophies matter, but what truly builds a legacy is the experience – the friendships, the lessons learned, the moments of triumph, and the challenges overcome. That’s what we hope every player will take away from EJCT Baden.

By creating an event that values performance, sportsmanship, and equality, we are planting the seeds for something that will benefit the curling community for years to come.
