The European Junior Curling Tour (EJCT) tournament was held in Baden for the first time – and the premiere was a resounding success. High-class games, fair competition and an enthusiastic crowd made the weekend at the Baden-Dättwil curling hall a special highlight in international U21 junior curling. Ten teams in the women’s and men’s competitions played many exciting games.
Exciting decisions in the women’s and men’s competitions
In the men’s final, the favourites impressively confirmed their status: the reigning junior world champions, Team Spiller, won the final 9-1 against Team Jäger from Germany.
In the women’s final, however, a closely contested match ensured high tension. In the end, the Scottish team Laurie narrowly defeated the Basel team Blackham to secure the title.
International field of participants and fair play in action
Teams from all over Europe, Switzerland and even Japan competed in Baden and presented curling at the highest level of play.
Despite the fierce competition, the spirit of fair play was at the forefront: Islay McKenzie was voted the fairest female player, while Arran Thomson received the award for the men. The Fair Play Award was sponsored by Sportpat.ch, a company that is particularly committed to fairness and top performance in sport.
Enthusiasm in the hall and on the livestream
It wasn’t just the numerous spectators on site who were enthusiastic about the premiere. The tournament also had a wide reach online: several hundred fans followed the games via livestream on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube and Swiss Sport TV. A total of 13 games were commented on live, giving even curling novices an exciting insight into this fascinating sport.
With its successful premiere, the first EJCT Baden has immediately established itself as an integral part of the Junior Curling Tour – and shown that Baden is a worthy host for high-class curling. Another tournament is planned for 3-6 September 2026, and preparations are already underway.
